Technology
SeminaryLibrary.com is an online digital library system offering “image plus text” editions of hard to find books located in seminary libraries. Books are photographed and cataloged on-site at theological institutions using a state of the art digital book scanner. Scanned images are then processed with ‘OCR,’ optical character recognition software to facilitate full text searching. The user views images of the actual printed pages. Since the system is web based it extends your ability to study to wherever you have Internet connectivity.
While this technology can not compete with more costly, high powered, full-text solutions like the Libronix Digital Library System, also from Logos, it is a good compromise between economy and performance for archived books. This allows users to have access to a library that is comprehensive, affordable and a practical extension to an existing personal library.
